24 weeks

Ike is 24 weeks old today. It's such a pleasure to watch him grow and develop. He's doing well with solid foods. He still doesn't like peas too much, but he does better when we mix it with rice cereal. He likes all the fruits he's had so far: bananas, apples, pears, and prunes. We'll ask the doctor about stage 2 foods at our 6 month check-up, which is right around the corner!

Last Sunday, we went to a PJ Library event at the JCC splash pad. Ike had fun splashing around and swimming in the pool with Jim and me. Uncle Michael even stopped by for a visit.

23 weeks

Ike is 23 weeks old today. I think he's around 18 pounds. I weighed myself and then weighed him with me, so it's probably not completely reliable. However, it's easier than waiting at the doctor's office.

We went to one of the local community pools with GAM yesterday. The outside area looked like so much fun, but I was feeding Ike while the other moms were checking it out. They said it was really cold, so I joined them in the indoor pool. Ike loved it! He did plenty of splashing and kicking, only swallowing a little bit of water. I definitely want to look into lessons for him when he's old enough. The indoor pool was fantastic. It had gradually sloping steps so we could very easily get in and out of the water. Unfortunately, it started thundering after we went back outside, but we did manage to get a quick photo before we headed for home.

All we are saying...

Is gives peas a chance! Ike turned 22 weeks old today. He is doing great with solid foods. So far, he's had carrots, sweet potatoes, butternut squash, and peas. I loved singing "All we are saying, is give peas a chance," to him. Tomorrow, he gets to try avocado for the first time. I hope he likes that too, but if not, his dad and I will be happy to eat it!

Our Family Pet

We are NOT pet people, but we have a new pet! Every evening, we have been visited by an adorable brown rabbit with very large ears. I wish Ike could see it, but not yet. Jim and I just look at it and talk about it, hoping Ike will eventually notice. We even snapped a few photos...

Kindermusik

Ike thoroughly enjoyed his first Kindermusik class on Tuesday. It was a free preview class, given by a local music school. We'll probably sign up for the next semester, which starts at the end of August. I loved all the ideas we got in just one hour! Ike got to play with an instrument (an maraca-like plastic egg) and we did a lot of singing and dancing too.

Visit with Little Grammy

Little Grammy was in town this past weekend for Aunt Leslie's baby shower. It was a busy one, but we spent lots of time playing! Aunt Barbara and Aunt Debbie were here too.

21 weeks

Ike is 21 weeks old today! We have a very exciting weekend coming up. It is his Aunt Leslie's baby shower. We don't know yet if his cousin is a boy or a girl, but we can't wait to meet him/her! Ike is going to meet his Great Aunt Barbara for the first time. He is also going to see Little Grammy for the first time in several months.

Catching up

We've been quite busy the past few days. J had Friday off, so we finally got around to taking a photo of my two favorite men in their "Big Guy" and "Little Guy" shirts. I bought them back in February and nearly forgot about them until J mentioned it. Ike's fits him perfectly right now, even though the size is 6 months.
We got this adorable Hawaiian outfit from one of J's colleagues who lives in Hawaii. It's already a little small on him, so it's a good thing we got the photo taken when we did!
Since Saturday was July 4th, Ike was dressed in red, white, and blue. We took him outside right before bedtime to light some sparklers.

20 weeks old!

I've been a bad blogger! Ike turned 20 weeks old last Thursday (July 2), and I haven't gotten around to posting the photos until now. He has been doing great with the rice cereal and we added carrots today. I steamed carrots yesterday, pureed them in the blender, and he tried them at his 12:30 feeding. I think the carrots were still a little too coarse for his taste. We'll try again at his 8:30 feeding tonight, but perhaps we'll use the jarred kind instead. I've heard that "Earth's Best" is quite good, and it's organic.
